    THE CONGRESSMAN, CHARLES DIGGS FROM MICHIGAN, DETROIT, HAD MET LEADERS OF SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONALIST MOVEMENTS IN DAR ES SALAAM.

    DURING HIS VISIT MR DIGGS, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE U.S. CONSUL, MR JACK F. MATLOCK, WAS RECEIVED BY THE FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT KARUME. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT IN DISCUSSIONS WITH MR. KARUME HE TOUCHED ON THE UNITED STATES ATTITUDES TO THE PROBLEMS OF AFRICA.

    AT THE MBWENI TECHNICAL SCHOOL, A MILLION DOLLAR EDUCATIONAL PROJECT BUILT WITH U.S. AID, HE WAS WELCOMED BY THE PRINCIPAL, MR MOHAMED SAID SALIM. MR DIGGS SPOKE TO THE STUDENTS OF THE SCHOOL - WHICH IS NOT YET COMPLETED - ABOUT THE VALUE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS IN EMERGENT NATIONS.
