  • Description

The American Women's Association of Kenya staged a fashion show in Nairobi, the capital yesterday (Wednesday). The fashion show featured dresses designed and made in Kenya.

The fashion show was organised to benefit the Maendeleo ya Wanawake (African Womens Association), and proceeds from the event will be used to finance a permanent headquarters for the Association.

In conjunction with the fashion show the womens groups organised an art exhibition which showed the work of both amateur and professional artists.

The fashion had names with a local and an international flavour-- "Juju", "Liberation Sonata", Rockabye Baby" and "Golden Touch" were a few.

The joint fashion and art exhibition staged at the City Hall, Nairobi, attracted an audience of about one thousand people.
