  • Description

VISNEWS filmed Jan 28 Glasgow firemen searching the tangled, twisted, burnt out shell of a tramcar in which three people lost their lives and twenty two others were injured when it collided with a heavy lorry in a Glasgow Street and caught fire Jan 28. The lorry can be seen wedged into the side of the tram.

Visibility was poor, because of fog, as the tram, well filled with people, neared the lorry trying to back into a foundry in Old Shettleston Road, Glasgow, Scotland. They collided..front of the tram was ripped off..its electric motor exploded and started the holocaust. In the ensuing panic some passengers were injured when smashing windows on the top deck and jumping to the ground. After the blaze had died down and firemen were able to search the wreck they found three bodies -- two women and a man. The man was the tram driver -- pinned in his crushed cab.
