    ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE, PRESIDENT TUBMAN ACCEPTED A BIRTHDAY GIFT OF A $250,000 LIBRARY AND ADMINISTRATION BUILDING SPONSORED BY THE FOREIGN BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN LIBERIA.

    THOUSANDS OF LIBERIAN CITIZENS, DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES AND OTHER GUESTS INCLUDING THE CANADIAN NEWSPAPER MAGNATE LORD THOMSON OF FLEET, WATCHED A MARCH PAST BY THE BOOKER WASHINGTON INSTITUTE CADETS AND YOUTH GROUPS.

    PRESIDENT TUBMAN ACCEPTED THE GIFT AND HANDED IT OVER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. HE DESCRIBED THE GIFT AS EVIDENCE OF THE WAY BUSINESS CAN HELP ENRICH THE COMMUNITY. HE POINTED OUT THAT LIBERIA HAD AN "OPENED DOOR" POLICY TOWARDS BUSINESS AND SAID THAT LIBERIA WILL CONTINUE TO PURSUE OF NON-NATIONALIZATION OF PRIVATE INVESTMENT. PRESIDENT TUBMAN DESCRIBED NATIONALIZATION AS THE ESSENCE OF UNDUE POWER.

    THE LIBRARY AND ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IS NAMED AFTER A FORMER PRESIDENT OF LIBERIA, THE LATE CHARLES DUNBAR BURGESS KING.
