    A EXPLOSION DAMAGED OFFICES OF THE ISRAELI AIRLINE, EL AL, IN ISTANBUL TODAY (SATURDAY). FIRST REPORTS ATTRIBUTED THE BLAST TO ARAB TERRORISTS. ONE OF TWO POLICEMEN ON DUTY OUTSIDE THE OFFICES WAS SLIGHTLY INJURED.

    AT FIRST THERE WERE CONFLICTING REPORTS OF THE TYPE OF EXPLOSIVE USED IN THE BLAST. BUT EL AL MANAGER CLEMENT HEMY CLAIMED IT WAS CAUSED BY PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE PLACED ON A GROUND-FLOOR WINDOW. IT SHATTERED WINDOWS IN THE OFFICES AND IN NEARBY APARTMENT BUILDINGS.

    TURKISH POLICE SAID THAT THEY SUSPECTED THAT AL FATAH GUERILLAS WERE BEHIND THE EXPLOSION - THE LATEST OF A SERIES OF ATTACKS ON EL AL BUILDINGS AND AIRCRAFT DURING THE PAST SIXTEEN MONTHS. ONLY LAST WEEK TURKISH POLICE ARRESTED FOUR ARAB STUDENTS ON CHARGES OF RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS FOR AL FATAH.
