This is the first time that British subjects have received the award.
Mr. Muller and Mr. Berbier are responsible for much of the trade liaison between the Ivory Coast and Britain. Mr. Muller is also an active member of the Anglo-Ivory Coast Society.
The Ivory Coast celebrates its Independence National Day on Sunday (7 December).
The Ivory Coast was granted independence from France in 1960 and has since retained strong trade links with Western Europe.

Mr. Muller is responsible for a great deal of the trade liaison between the Ivory Coast and Britain. He is also a member of the Anglo-Ivory Coast Society set up to foster relations between the two countries.
The other Briton to receive the award was Mr. John Berbier from the northern English industrial city of Liverpool. The Ambassador said it was men like Mr. Berbier and Mr. Muller that were strengthening the links between the Ivory Coast and Britain. The awards were made as part of the celebrations surrounding the fifteenth anniversary of the independence of the Ivory Coast on Sunday. The country achieved complete independence from France in nineteen-sixty.
