In the Upper Volta, there's been a conference of twelve African ministers responsible for film production and distribution. They discussed the funding of two groups -- to run on a co-operative basis -- which would make and distribute films throughout French-speaking Africa.
SYNOPSIS: It was the second time the ministers had met in ouagadougou to discuss the project. This time the guest of honour at the conference was the Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Colombo. Last year, the delegates decided to go ahead with the formation of the two bodies, one called the CIDC, for film distribution, and the other CIPROFILM for making cinema features.
Monsieur Solombere Emmanuel, Secretary General of the conference, discussed the importance of 'Africanising' film production. The idea was conceived in 1974 and two years later the heads of the CIDC and CIPROFILM were chosen. At this conference the budget for them was decided.
Prime Minister Colombo told del???gates there were two important functions of the cinema -- to bring people together and to open a window on the world.
