Background: The main Political Committee of the Arab League has approved a motion of solidarity with African national movements.
The Committee, meeting in Cairo, released a statement saying it gave full support to national movements in South West Africa and Rhodesia.
The Committee also voiced its solidarity with the "people of Palestine against the Zionist occupation" of their country.
One resolution passed by the Committee supported Mozambique, which recently closed its borders with Rhodesia. The Committee also denounced South African involvement in Angola and called for the end of South African interference in that country.
The Arab ministers attending the meeting agreed to hold a joint African-Arab meeting of Foreign Ministers in Dakar next month to discuss stronger Arab-African cooperation.

Amongst those attending the meeting was the Secretary General of the Arab League, Mr. Mahmoud Riad. The Committee declared its support for national movements in Rhodesia and South West Africa.
The Committee also announced its solidarity with the Palestinians against what the Committee termed, Zionist aggression. After the meeting the spokesman for the Committee Mr. Yehia Abubkr, spoke to newsmen.
