  • Description

    (Suggested introduction before film)
Last minute construction is being rushed at San Antonio, Texas....as the city prepares for the opening of Hemis Fair '68, the only officially sanctioned World's Fair ever held in the southern half of the United States.

    (SUGGESTED NARRATION)
Dominating the far site is the Tower of the Americas...highest observations tower in the Western Hemisphere. From the top, visitors have a bird's-eye view of the fairgrounds.

HemisFair symbolizes international cooperation...with 33 nations represented. The pavilions are a blending of these many cultures and traditions. Industry and business are represented too, demonstrating many of the marvels of life in a space age environment. In one exhibit fairgoers use a computer to create fabric designs; an electronic pen enables them to draw a picture on a television-like screen. The computer senses the picture and controls a loom in re-creating the identical pattern, on small squares of fabric.

As workmen apply finishing touches, fair officials say they expect seven millions visitors for HemisFair during the next six months.
