    THE PILOTS - MAJOR FRED N. THOMPSON, MAJOR JAMES F. LOW AND CAPTAIN JOE B. CARPENTER - WERE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE MEMBERS OF THE ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN HANOI ON JULY 18. MAJOR LOW SAID "WE WERE CHOSEN AT RANDOM AMONG OTHER PILOTS IMPRISONED IN HANOI. WHEN THEY WERE RELEASED THE PILOTS WERE PLACED UNDER THE CARE OF THE AMERICAN ANTI-WAR GROUP.

    MAJOR LOW SAID THE PEOPLE OF NORTH VIETNAM HAD TREATED THEM WELL AND NO CONDITIONS HAD BEEN ATTACHED TO THEIR RELEASE.
