England: A.V. Alexander makes a speech about the work of the Navy at an English-Speaking Union luncheon where is guest; among the other guests were Sir Dudley Pound, Rear Admiral Ghormley & Capt. Kirk of the U.S. Navy, & Admiral Evans.
Alexander refers to the great work done by Rear Admiral Gohrmley of U.S. navy & of Sir Charles Forbes, how he deprecates the general assumption that when an officer is relieved of his command some shadow of doubt is thereby implied. Alexander continues by saying that the thinks that we are defending the Western Hemisphere as well as our own life-line & that he has hopes of seeing more aid coming from that direction.
