  • Description

GHANA HAS NO PLANS FOR FURTHER DEVALUATION OF THE CEDI, THE COMMISSIONER FOR ECONOMIC AFFAIRS MR E.N. OMABOE SAID IN ACCRA LAST WEEK.

MR OMABOE TOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE IN ACCRA THAT RUMOURS THAT THE CEDI WOULD BE FURTHER DEVALUED WERE "WICKED AND UNFOUNDED". THE GHANAIAN CEDI STANDS AT 2.45 TO THE POUND STERLING.

THE COMMISSIONER TOLD REPORTERS THAT THE FULL BENEFITS OF DEVALUATION HAD NOT YET BECOME APPARENT. AND HE SAID THE GOVERNMENT WOULD SOON ANNOUNCE NEW PLANS FOR DERIVING THE GREATEST POSSIBLE ADVANTAGE FROM THE DEVALUATION.

MR OMABOE APPEALED TO ALL GHANAIANS NOT TO SPREAD UNFOUNDED RUMOURS THAT COULD DAMAGE THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY.
