    Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh made a four-hour visit recently to Britain's GBP20,000 experimental atomic station at Dounreay, Caithness, Scotland.

    The Duke went down 70 feet inside the core of the steel sphere which houses Dounreay's fast reactor and which has earned i itself the nickname 'Golden Ball'.

    He showed great interest, too, in preparatory work for Britain's first atomic submarine, 'Dreadnought'.

    Sir Leonard Owen, managing director of the industrial group of the Atomic energy Authority explained to the Duke the station's programme and problems.
