    A four-day Industrial Exhibition opened in Amman, Jordan on Saturday (16 September) as part of celebrations to commemorate the anniversary of the Great Arab Revolt against Turkish rule during World War One and the twentieth anniversary of King Hussein's accession to the throne.

    The Industrial Exhibition was held under the patronage of King Hussein and was officially opened by the Chief of the Royal court, Mr. Ahmed Toukan. Prime Minister Ahmed el-Lawzy and the Minister of the Economy, Dr. Said Nabulski, were among the government representatives on hand for the opening.

    Twenty-four companies participated in the exhibition. They represent a cross-section of Jordanian industry and produce: plastics, shoes, ???bacco, cement, paints, beer, fuels and milk, to name a few.

    SYNOPSIS: On Saturday, Ahmad toukan, Chief of the Royal Court, opened the Industrial Exhibition in Amman, Jordan on behalf of King Hussein. The exhibition is part of a series of events commemorating the anniversary of the Great Arab Revolt against Turkish rule during World War One and the twentieth anniversary of King Hussein's accession to the throne... Jordan's Prime Minister Ahmed el-Lawzy was among the officials to tour the exhibits on the opening day.

    Twenty-four companies participated in the show, representing a cross-section of Jordanian goods and produce..One of the main exhibits was a display of a Jordanian refining facility. But, a great variety of goods were on show including plastics, shoes, cigarettes, cement and phosphates.

    This exhibition was only one part of the three-day celebration. While the trade fair showed the progress of Jordan in the fields of industry and economy, there were other ceremonies to mark military achievements. And on the eve of the anniversary of King Hussein's accession, one-hundred and sixty-six prisoners were released from custody.

    During a time of celebration for Jordan, the Industrial Exhibition shows one facet of the country's development over the past few years.
