  • Description

Flood waters once again poured in Frejus, Southern France, Nov 22, ten days before the first anniversary of the Malpasset Dam disaster.

The Reyran River, swollen by twenty-four hours of heavy rains, burst through an earthen dike and flood waters poured into the lower sections of Frejus town.

Houses and business premises only recently repaired were once more inundated, though with the end of the rain in sight, further danger was not expected.

Dec 2 last year, the Malpasset Dam, backing up the water of the Reyran into an irrigation reservoir above Frejus, burst and the wall of water destroyed a large part of the town and killed more than 400 persons.
