    THIS WAS THE EVENT IN WHICH SHE PROMISED TO SET A WORLD RECORD BUT FATIGUE SHOWED UP AFTER RUNNING THE 200 METRES HALF-AN-HOUR EARLIER.

    SECOND AND THIRD PLACING WENT TO SONG YUEN HONG OF CHINA AND KIM KUM OF CAMBODIA, RESPECTIVELY THE MEN'S 1,500 METRE FINAL WAS WON BY KANG KYEUN MAN, OR NORTH KOREA, HIS TIME: 3 MINS 52 SECS. CHINA TOOK SECOND AND THIRD POSITIONS. KYEUN MAN TOOK AN EARLY LEAD AND AT THE FINISH WAS WELL OVER 70 YARDS IN FRONT OF THE RUNNER UP, HAN YUEN NIEN.
