    On October 16, 1967, in the morning, the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Indira Gandhi, arrived in Bucharest, paying an official visit in Romania, of a guest of the President of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Romania, Ion Gheorghe Maurer.

    The Indian Premier is accompanied by Rajeshwar Dayal, Secretary for Foreign Problems in the Foreign Affair Ministry, P.N. Haksar, Secretary of the Prime Minister, Amrik Singh Mehta, Ambassador of India in Bucharest, S. Ramachandran, Deputy Secretary in the Trade Ministry, J.S. Mehta, Deputy Secretary in the Foreign Affair Ministry, S. Bikram Shah, Head of the Protocol Department in the Foreign Affair Ministry, K. Natwar Singh, Director of the Prime Minister Secretariate and other officials.

    When getting down from the plane, the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi was cordially greeted by the President of the Council of Ministers, Ion Gheorghe Maurer.

    Constantin Scarlat, Chemical Industry Minister, Mihai Suder, Forestry Minister, Alexandru Boaba, Oil Industry Minister, Matei Ghigiu, Chemical Industry and Refinery Construction Minister, George Macovescu, first Deputy Foreign Minister, Ion Cosma, President of the Executive Committee of the People's Council of the city of Bucharest, Aurel Afdeleanu, Romanian Ambassador in India, managers of several central institutions, generals, superior civil servants in the Foreign Affair Ministry, Romanian and foreign journalists.

    Members of the Indian Embassy in Bucharest were present. The State flags of Romania and India were hoisted on the airport.

    The anthems of both States were played; the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Indira Gandhi and the President of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Romania, Ion Gheorghe Maurer reviewed the military Guard of Honour arranged in a line on the airport.

    On October 16, 1967, in the morning, the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Indira Gandhi and the officials accompanying him, laid a wreath at the Monument of the Heroes of the Fight for the Freedom of the People and of the Country and for Socialism.

    On October 16, 1967, at noon, the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Indira Gandhi, paid the President of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Romania, Ion Gheorghe Maurer, a visit pertaining to State etiquette.

    A cordial discussion developed between the Romanian Premier and the Indian Premier.

    During the lunch, which developed in a cordial atmosphere, Ion Gheorghe Maurer and Indira Gandhi toasted.

    On Monday, October 16, 1967, in the afternoon, at the Council of Ministers Palace, official discussions took place between the President of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Romania, Ion Gheorghe Maurer, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Indira Gandhi.

    The Romanian party was represented in the discussions by George Macovescu, first Deputy Foreign Affair Minister, Mihai Marin, Deputy Foreign Affair Minister, Alexandru Albescu, Deputy Foreign Trade Minister, Aurel Ardeleanu, Romanian Ambassador in India, Gheorghe Iason si Nicu Serban, interim Directors in the Foreign Affair Ministry.

    Within the discussions which get on in a cordial atmosphere a vast exchange of views concerning the continuous development and strengthening of the friendly relationships between Romania and India and concerning certain world situation problems took place.
