    President Albert Bernard Bongo of Gabon arrived at Entebbe Airport on Saturday (July 7) for a two-day State visit to Uganda.

    The Gabonese leader was met at the airport by President Idi Amin, his entire cabinet, as well as diplomats and religious leaders.

    President Bongo was also greeted by the music of the Army band and traditional dancers.

    During his stay President Bongo will have discussions with resident Amin and visit places of interest.

    President Amin has been developing relations with countries of West Africa. He recently announced plans to visit Guinea and to set up an embassy there. He has also been campaigning for the formation of a military alliance in Africa, to "liberate African territories still under foreign domination."
    President Bongo has recently been travelling widely. In May he went on a crucial mission to France in search of cash for the planned 80 million pounds sterling Trans-Gabon Railway.

    SYNOPSIS: The crowds were out at Uganda's Entebbe Airport on Saturday to welcome a visiting President to the country. The Gabonese leader President Albert Bernard Bongo was arriving for a State Visit.

    The Ugandan leader, President Idi Amin, came to the airport to greet his guest -- together with his entire Cabinet. Many diplomats and the country's religious leaders were also there.

    President Bongo has recently been travellings widely. In May he took part in conferences at Port Louis, Mauritius, and Addis Ababa, and also visited the Benelux countries. But his most important trip was to France -- to seek cash for the planned 80 million sterling Trans-Gabon Railway.

    President Amin has been developing relations with countries of West Africa. Lase month he announced plans to visit Guinea and said that Uganda intended to open a embassy there.

    The Ugandan leader has also been calling for the formation of an African military alliance to "liberate African territories still under foreign domination."
    President Bongo was also welcomed by traditional dancers.

    During his stay the Gabonese leader was having discussions with President Amin -- and also visiting places of interest in Uganda.
