The mayor of Venice, Giovanni Favetto-Fisca, announced the postponement after the festival director Professor Liugi Chiarini put the festival in his hands.
In a dramatic announcement tonight (25th) Ghiarini disclosed that two of the directors leaders approached him late last night and threatened that if he did not submit to their take-over they would "Create situations in which someone might even get killed.
