One of the day's regular tasks -- feeding the pigs. Farmer Schmidt carries the feed -- but Johnny goes along to keep them in order and make sure none gets more than its fair share. And when it comes to keeping order and herding the pigs back into their stay at the end of the feed, Johnny is second to none. For he thinks he's the boss, and behaves accordingly.

Of course there are some limits to what Johnny can do. At six years old, he's not fully grown yet and isn't big enough to bale hay -- so he drives the tractor instead.

Johnny comes from old farming stock -- this is his father, Johnny the first, who died six years ago with suspected appendicitis. When fully grown, driving hay out to the cattle and offloading it was a regular chore.

Johnny junior is not so good as the same task yet -- but under daily instruction from Mr. Schmidt he's getting better all the time.

SCHMIDT: 'Monkeys never have fleas, and when you see them picking each other....but I tell you, he would never do this with anybody but his best companion.'

REPORTER: 'That's right, because he's not a very friendly person, too, I don't think -- is that right?'

SCHMIDT: 'That's dead right. That's dead right.'

REPORTER: 'Is he -- he's dangerous, then? Would you say that about him?'

SCHMIDT: 'Yes, he's pretty savage to other people, yes.'

REPORTER: 'In what way -- in what way could he be dangerous to other people?'

SCHMIDT: 'Well, I mean he could -- he would bite them, of course, and he can even kill you. They can kill you, as I said before, by getting behind you and ....getting behind your back and bite you on the back of the neck.'

REPORTER: 'His most dangerous feature is his teeth, isn't it? Could you show us his teeth?'
