Background: Senegal launched its first public television scheme on August the 26th when spectators in the capital, Dakar, saw the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Munich on equipment supplied from France.

Until then, the only television seen in Dakar had been a closed circuit station for educational purposes.

It's believed the Olympic coverage will mark the beginning of a Radio-TV network in Senegal.
