    ABOUT 75 PER CENT OF THE 1,400 AFRICANS IN SWAZILAND WHO HAVE BEEN ON STRIKE AT THE BIG BEND SUGAR PLANTATIONS FOR A WEEK RETURNED TO WORK YESTERDAY (THURSDAY).ON WEDNESDAY, BRITISH TROOPS CORDONED OFF THE AREA IN THEIR SECOND OPERATION SINCE THEY WERE FLOWN IN TO THE PROTECTORATE LAST WEEKEND.

    THEY HELPED POLICE ROUND UP STRIKERS AND ARRESTED 161.BUT MOST WERE RELEASED AFTER QUESTIONING AND ONLY 12 WERE BEING HELD ON CHARGES OF LEADING AN ILLEGAL STRIKE.THIS STRIKE WAS ONE OF SEVERAL WHICH HAVE HIT THE COUNTRY.

    FILM SHOWS A SILENT AFRICAN WEARING A HOOD WITH EYE SLITS SCREENING ABOUT 1,200 AFRICAN WORKERS ON WEDNESDAY.A NOD MEANT THAT THE MAN BEFORE HIM WAS A "HARD-SCORE" STRIKER.HE WAS CLASSIFIED AS "RED" AND LED AWAY.

    IF THE HOODED MAN SHOOK HIS HEAD, IT MEANT THE MAN WAS NOT "DANGEROUS" AND HE WAS PASSED ON TO POLICE FOR QUESTIONING.THESE WORKERS WERE THEN SEPARATED INTO TWO CATEGORIES - "YELLOW" OR "GREEN".THOSE MARKED WITH A GREEN STAMP SAID THEY DID NOT WANT TO STRIKE, BUT THOSE MARKED WITH A "YELLOW" STAMP SAID THEY DID NOT WANT TO RESUME WORK UNTIL THEIR PAY WAS INCREASED.HOWEVER, MOST OF THE "YELLOWS" WERE PERSUADED TO RETURN.MEANWHILE, AN R.A.F.PIONEER AIRCRAFT SEARCHED FOR 400 MISSING WORKERS IN THE SURROUNDING COUNTRYSIDE - CLOSE TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN AND MOZAMBIQUE BORDERS.
