The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity -- O.A.U. -- on Monday pledged support for the newly independent state of Guinea-Bissau and hit out at Jordan for selling arms to South Africa.
The Secretary-General, Mr. William Eteki M'Boumoua, made the comments in Accra where he stopped off on his way tot the Guinea-Bissau independence celebrations after attending the swearing-in of the provisional government in Mozambique.
Mr. Eteki M'Boumoua said the O.A.U. would coordinate assistance from its member states, other friendly countries and international organisations for both Guinea-Bissau and the transitional government of Mozambique.
He added he had also protested to the Secretary-General of the Arab League about Jordan's recent sale of British-built arms to South Africa.
