    A cultural agreement between India and East germany was signed in New Delhi, the Indian capital, on Monday (15 January). It provides for exchanges in areas like education, culture, science, sports and public health in an attempt to strengthen relations between the two countries. It's also designed to encourage tourism between them.

    The five-years agreement was signed by Indian Minister of Education, Social welfare and Culture, Professor Nural Husan, and East German Minister of Cultural Mr. Klaus Gysi.

    SYNOPSIS: East Germany's minister of Culture, Mr. Klaus Gysi, was in New Delhi on Monday to sign a five-year cultural agreement with the Indian Government, represented by Professor Nural Husan, Minister of Education, Social Welfare and Culture.

    The agreement, designed to strengthen relations between the two countries, provides for exchanges in areas like education, culture, science, sports and public health. Experts in these fields will be exchanged; bilateral scholarships will be awarded; and cultural entertainers from each nation will visit the other.

    The agreement, which will remain in force after its five-year span, unless terminated by either country, also provides for the encouragement of tourism between them.
