  • Description

A group of Kenyan orphan children had an unusual Christmas treat on Wednesday (December 23) -- when they were taken to see the Nairobi animal orphanage on a visit organised by the German airline, Lufthansa.

For many of the children, it was the first time they had seen wild animals. The animal orphanage has quite a large variety -- including a chimpanzee, zebras, wildebeests, and ta leopard cub.

Escorted by a Lufthansa air hostess, the children were treated to a V.I.P. tour of the animals. The Warden, Mr Julian Tung, even allowed them to fondle a leopard cub -- which was young enough to be safe, although leopards become dangerous and unpredictable when older. Part of the treat was a present for each child -- although the airline decided to keep them as a surprise for Christmas Day.
