    THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC'S FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT, FIELD MARSHAL ABDEL HAKIM AMER, HAS BEEN ON AN EIGHT DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO PAKISTAN. WHILE HE WAS THERE, HE AND HIS 12-MAN DELEGATION, SPENT TWO DAYS TOURING EAST PAKISTAN.

    THE VICE-PRESIDENT'S SECOND DAY IN EAST PAKISTAN BEGAN WITH A VISIT TO A JUTE FACTORY. THERE HE WATCHED VARIOUS ASPECTS OF JUTE PROCESSING AND THE FINAL PRODUCT. FIGURES AVAILABLE FOR 1963-64 SHOW THAT PAKISTAN PRODUCED SOME 315,000 TONS OF JUTE OF WHICH 80 PER CENT WAS EXPORTED.

    AFTER A CRUISE IN THE EAST PAKISTAN GOVERNOR'S YACHT "MARY ANDERSON", FIELD MARSHAL AMER RETURNED TO DACCA TO VISIT THE EAST PAKISTAN COLLEGE OF ARTS AND CRAFTS. HE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE GENERAL MINISTER FOR INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING, KHWAJA SHAHABUDIN AND RECEIVED AT THE COLLEGE BY THE EAST PAKISTAN EDUCATION MINISTER, MR. AJMED HUSAIN, THE COMMISSIONER OF DACCA DIVISION AND THE PRINCIPAL OF THE COLLEGE.

    THE PRINCIPAL EXPLAINED TO THE VICE-PRESIDENT THE BACKGROUND OF SOME OF THE PAINTINGS AND WORKS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP EXHIBITED IN VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE COLLEGE.

    AN ABSTRACT PAINTING IN BLACK RED AND WHITE BY ARTIST KIBRIA, SENIOR INSTRUCTOR OF THE COLLEGE, WAS PRESENTED TO FIELD MARSHAL AMER BY THE PAINTER AS A SOUVENIR OF THE VISIT.

    THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC'S FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT LEFT FOR CAIRO LATER ON MONDAY. NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE VISIT WAS RELEASED.
