    THE NAMING CEREMONY WAS HELD AS A HIGHLIGHT TO THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE ALGERIAN CAPITAL.

    THE CEREMONY WAS CONDUCTED BY PRESIDENT BOUMEDIENNE, AND WAS ATTENDED BY THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR TO ALGERIA, RAFAEL FERNANDEZ MOYA.

    CHE GUEVARA, WHO HAD CUBAN CITIZENSHIP, LED A GUERILLA ORGANISATION IN BOLIVIA FOR SOME YEARS, BEFORE HE WAS SHOT. HE ALSO EARLIER FOUGHT IN CUBA WITH FIDEL CASTRO'S FORCES, AND BECAME A MINISTER IN THE CASTRO GOVERNMENT.

    STREETS IN CONSTANTINE, ANNABA AND ORAN, ALGERIA'S MAJOR PROVINCIAL CENTRES, WILL ALSO BEAR THE NAME OF THE LATE REBEL LEADER.
