    PROFESSOR ALEX KWAPONG, THE VICE-CHANCELLOR OF GHANA UNIVERSITY, APPEALED TO UNIVERSITY GRADUATES THIS WEEK TO BE PREPARED TO WORK IN ANY PART OF GHANA.

    THE PROFESSOR WHO WAS SPEAKING AT THE OPENING SESSION OF THE FIFTH ANNUAL CONGRESS OF GHANA STUDENTS, REMINDED THEM OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RURAL AREAS, THE RESOURCES OF WHICH WERE LARGELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR EDUCATION SO FAR.

    PROFESSOR KWAPONG WENT TO SAY THAT IN SEEKING TO MAKE THEIR VIEWS HEARD ON MATTERS OF PUBLIC AND NATIONAL IMPORTANCE THE STUDENTS WOULD ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULTS IF THEY ACTED WITH RESPONSIBILITY.

    THE CONGRESS WAS MADE UP OF DELEGATES FROM OUR OF GHANA'S UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. THE SUBJECT OF THE MEETING WAS "THE STUDENT AND THE NATION".

    CHAIRMAN FOR THE OPENING SESSION WAS PROFESSOR E.A. BOATENG, PROFESSOR OF GEOGRAPHY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA. PROFESSOR BOATENG ADVISED THE STUDENTS TO PUT THE CONGRESS TO GOOD USE AND NOT TO ABUSE IT.

    A SECOND YEAR STUDENT OF ENGLISH, MISS JOYCE ARYEE, GAVE THE VOTE OF THANKS ON BEHALF OF THE CONGRESS FOR WHICH SHE ACTS AS VICE-NATIONAL TREASURER.
