    Former Cambodian head of state, Prince Norodom Sihanouk, left Nouakchott on Friday (14 July), for ???lgrade, after a week-long official visit to Mauritania. His wife, Princess Monique is travelling with him.

    At a dinner given in honour of Mauritania's President Moktar Ould Daddah on Thursday (13 July) in Nouakchott, Prince Sihanouk criticised what he called "United States imperialism and the clique in Phnom Penh." He also said he supported the liberation of African and Arab territories from foreign domination and backed up the people of Mauritania, Algeria and Morocco in their demands for decolonisation of the Spanish-ruled Sahara.

    Last week, in a welcoming speech for Prince Sihanouk, President Ould Daddah affirmed Mauritania 's support for "the sacred struggle of the people of Cambodia."
    The Mauritanian head of state accompanied Prince Sihanouk on a tour of several provincial centres including Rosso, capital of the Sixth Region of Mauritania.

    SYNOPSIS: Exiled Cambodian leader, Prince Norodom Sihanouk, and his wife, Princess Monique, arrive at a land reclamation project near Rosso, south of Nouakchott. Accompanied by Mauritania's President Moktar Ould Daddah and his wife, Prince Sihanouk was on a tour of provincial centres earlier this week, as part of his seven-day official visit to Mauritania.

    Situated on the northern bank of the Senegal River, this farm began land reclamation in 1968. With the help of technical personnel from the People's Republic of China, the farm has succeeded in cultivating an area of over two-thousand five-hundred hectares.

    When Prince Sihanouk arrived in Mauritania last week, President Ould Daddah expressed "the firm and resolute support of the Mauritanian people, part and government for the sacred struggle of the Cambodian people to recover their independence and dignity, which, "he said, " a felonious clique has sought to usurp in the interested of itself and its imperialist masters."
    The official party was also shown the irrigation and flood control projects on the farm near Rosso. Prince Sihanouk warmly congratulated Mauritania on such successes in developing the economy. From the farm, the dignitaries proceeded by road to Rosso.

    There, thousands of citizens lined the road to welcome the guests. prince Sihanouk left Mauritania for Belgrade on Friday. At a dinner given in honour of President Ould Daddah on Thursday night, Prince Sihanouk said he supported the liberation of African and Arab territories from foreign domination.
