    TWO LANDING CRAFT TANKS OF THE ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS ARRIVED IN SINGAPORE RECENTLY AFTER IN 8,000-MILE VOYAGE FROM BRITAIN.

    THE VESSELS -- THE ANTWERP AND THE ARAKAN -- EACH HAS TWO OFFICERS, SIX WARRANT OFFICERS AND TWENTY-EIGHT MEN ABOARD.

    EACH VESSEL WEIGHS 1,017 TONS AND ARE 231-FOOT LONG AND 38-FOOT WIDE, AND CAN CARRY 38 LAND ROVERS AND 15 THREE-TON LORRIES.

    UNDER THE COMMAND OF CAPTAIN MIKE RANDALL-SMITH, OF THE ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS, THE VESSELS LEFT PORTSMOUTH ON FEBRUARY 18 FOR GIBRALTAR ON THE FIRST LEG OF THEIR TRIP. OTHER PORTS OF CALL WERE: MALTA, PORT SAID, ADEN AND COLOMBO.

    ON THE WAY TO ADEN, ARAKAN HAD TO MAKE AN UNSCHEDULED STOP AT BENGHAZI,WHEN A MEMBER OF THE CREW WAS TAKEN ILL AND HAD TO BE PUT ASHORE.
