    Background: On the 20th of this month a force of I.700 U.S. Marines and 600 British Royal Marine Commandos staged an invasion of the island of Sardinia. The operation began at 7 am with a force of 46 British, U.S. and Italian warships converging on the southern tip of Sardinia. The men taking part in the operation stormed ashore at Porto Teulada.

    This NATO landing exercise was observed by high ranking officers of the Nations participating in it and was called "Operation Combine".

    Gunfire for coverage of landing was furnished by destroyers and cruisers of the U.S. Sith Fleet and British Mediterranean fleet. Air support came from planes based on a U.S. Carrier in the Mediterranean.
