KENYA'S TEAM OF CABINET MINISTERS, CAPTAINED BY VICE PRESIDENT DANIEL MOI, BEAT A FOREIGN AMBASSADORS TEAM, SKIPPERED BY ETHIOPIA'S AMBASSADOR GETACHEW MEKASHA, BY FOUR GOALS TO NIL IN A CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH AT NAIROBI CITY STADIUM YESTERDAY (SATURDAY).

THE GAME WAS HELD TO MARK THE START OF KENYA'S ARMED FORCES WEEK, AIMED AT RAISING FUNDS FOR A NEW SERVICES HOSPITAL.

PRESIDENT KENYATTA SHOOK HANDS WITH ALL THE PLAYERS AND INSPECTED A GUARD OF HONOUR BEFORE THE KICK-OFF.

A CROWDED STADIUM WATCHED AS THE KENYA CABINET "ALL STARS" OUTPLAYED THE DIPLOMATS FROM THE START. THE TEAM BOASTS A FORMER INTERNATIONAL IN ITS RANKS ISAAC LUGONZO WHO NEARLY SCORED IN THE OPENING MINUTES.

KENYA'S MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING, JAMES OSOGO, WAS IN VERY GOOD FORM. HE NARROWLY MISSED SCORING TWICE BEFORE HE EVENTUALLY GOT THE CABINET MINISTERS FIRST GOAL WITH A 20 YARD (28 METRES) SHOT IN THE 15TH MINUTE.

ALL TWENTY TWO PLAYERS APPEARED VERY PLEASED HOWEVER, WHEN THE WHISTLE WENT FOR HALF-TIME.

SOON AFTER THE START OF THE SECOND HALF FORMER INTERNATIONAL ISAAC LUNONZO MADE THE SCORE 2-0 WITH A HARD SHOT. THIS SEEMED TO GIVE THE MINISTERS ADDED CONFIDENCE AS THEY HAMMERED IN 2 MORE GOALS BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE.

THE TEAM OF AMBASSADORS, INCLUDING BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER ERIC NORRIS, DID NOT APPEAR TOO DOWN-HEARTED AS PRESIDENT KENYATTA PRESENTED VICE PRESIDENT MOI WITH THE "KENYA FORCES WEEK" TROPHY.
