Background: Mrs. Batista, 2nd wife of the deposed Cuban dictator General Fulgencio Batista, was reunited with two of her sons when she flew in to New York City from the Dominican Republic on Jan. 19. With 11-year-old Roberto and eight-year-old Carlos she is staying for a few days in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
Roberto and Carlos have been living in New York since their father was overthrown two weeks ago. Mother and sons plan to leave the city in a couple of days for Daytona Beach where Batista owns a luxurious estate. Two other children (one reported sick) are already living there. (See Visnews Prod: No:0008/59.)
Batista himself is living in refuge in the Dominican Republic with another child. Latest reports are that Batista has applied for political asylum in France.
