    Aden's national Liberation Front have seized control of the South Arabian state of Audhali - and to prove it they took a party of journalists in to the state capital, Lodher.

    The journalists were taken on a five-hour drive to reach Lodher and they were escorted by armed commandos of the National Liberation Front - there to protect them in case the rival nationalist group, the Front for the Liberation of Occupied South Yemen, decided to stage an ambush.

    In Lodher, which FLN commandos claim to have seized on August 24, they were greeted with a noisy demonstration outside the Sultan's Palace. The demonstrators were mainly commandos - typical, according to one reporter, of the sort of people who are beginning to take over the South Arabian Federation.

    The British High Commissioner in Aden, Sir Humphrey Trevelyan, has asked NLF leaders to talk about the possibility of setting up a new government.
