    ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE, PRIME MINISTER SIR ROY WELENSKY VOTED HIS NORTHERN RHODESIAN MINING CONSTITUENCY OF BROKEN HILL EARLY ON APRIL 27, POLLING DAY IN THE RHODESIAN FEDERATION'S THIRD GENERAL ELECTION.

    SIR ROY, LEADER OF THE UNITED FEDERAL PARTY, WAS OPPOSED IN THE CONSTITUENCY HE HAS REPRESENTED FOR 24 YEARS BY MR. GAVIN MACKENZIE OF THE RHODESIAN REPUBLICAN PARTY AND LOCAL CHAIRMAN OF THE MINE WORKERS' UNION.

    ALL BUT ONE OF THE OPPOSITION PARTIES, BLACK AND WHITE, BOYCOTTED THE ELECTION. WITH ONLY ONE RESULT OUTSTANDING BY APRIL 28, THE RHODESIAN UNITED FEDERAL PARTY HAD 55 OF THE 59 SEATS IN THE FEDERAL ASSEMBLY.

    SIR ROY SAID THE RESULT SHOWED CLEARLY "THE ELECTORATE HAS NO TIME FOR EXTREMISTS, WHETHER ON THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT". THE BIG TASK NOW AHEAD WAS THE REVISION OF THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION, HE SAID.
