billy Wright - centre back... Colin McDonald - goalkeeper ... Derek Kevan -
centre forward. Now as we visited the team of England let us drop in to see the
players of the national team of the Soviet Union. Here is its captain Igor Netto
... Konstantin Erishevsky - centre back ... Valentine Ivanov - right centre
forward. The senior coach of team, Gavriil Kachalin.

This is what the approaches to the Lenin Central Stadium in Moscow looked like
on the day the match was held. All tickets sold: The players of today's match
appear on the field. The national team of England ... The national team of the
    Soviet Union...

Frederick Seipelt of Austria is the referee.

And so the game starts ... The England goal is on the right from us, and the
goal of the Soviet team on the left. The quests are attacking now ... Erizhevaky
has the ball ... he dribbles it to the opponents' half of the field ...

Streltsov makes a dash ... But McDonald has just time enough to intercept the
ball. As you can see, there is no scouting about in this game, and the attacks
begin right at once... and sharp ones at that. Ogonkov is forced to kick the
ball out ... A corner kick. Tommy Finney serves the balls to the penalty area.

The Soviet backs don't seem to able to take the strain off ... The England
players have the ball again. Yashin seems to be nervous - who will emerge the
winner - the backs or the forwards .. Well the backs seem to be the victors now
... and soon follows an attack by the Soviet players. Streltsov has the ball...

he rolls it out ... but Falin is too late ...

Both teams seem to be ready for action ... The Soviet players launch another
attack ... a tense moment ... The England backs save the situation... and the
England players immediately begin to attack ... they try to bring the ball up
nearer to the Soviet goal. Falin gives up the ball to the goalkeeper. Kevan is
in the way as Yashin tries to throw the ball to one of his team's players so as
to launch an attack ... The Soviet players are on the offensive. The ball flies
beyond the goal line... from an England player.

Now Apukhtin will make the corner kick... McDonald has done an excellent job.

The Soviet players seize the ball. Voinov is in play now... a pass to Streltsov
... A dash in ... But Wright saves the situation by the skin of his teeth. Too
bad! The Soviet players launch a new attack. A pass to Ivanov ... Goal! But
there was no score -- it appears that just before the kick Ivanov touched the
ball. It's a pity! The struggle continues ... The England players are very
energetic and determined to win. Kuznetsov breaks the rules. A direct free kick
for the England team... Without result ... the ball is cleared. The fans are
getting anxious for a goal shot ... the first half is nearing its end ... The
England players have the ball ... their passes are very accurate. The Soviet
backs just can't intercept the ball.

The last minute of the first half. Kevan gets a hold of the ball ... and ...

Yashin fails this time. 1 : 0 in favour of the England team. The British
tourists present at the match are very pleased ... While the Moscow fans need a
    bit of cheering up.

The first half is over with the England team leading. The goalkeepers are again
at their posts. McDonald is now on the left and Yashin on the right.

The second half begins with an attack by the England players. They seem to be
determined to consolidate their attained success. The Soviet players are on the
defensive. Clamp passes the ball back to Donald Howe ... who immediately begins
to charge ... It certainly is a menacing dash in ... a cross along the right
edge follows ... McDonald has the ball. The guest players are launching an
attack again ... they get closer and closer to the Soviet goal. The Soviet backs
have their hands full. There goes a kick!.... A miss! Pace and effort keep on
mounting on with every minute ... Now it's McDonald's turn to be on the alert.

The Soviet players are now near the England goal. But no sooner than the attack
is repulsed a return offensive begins. The national team of England is sure to
be menacing rival ... A short distance kick ... Yashin saves his goal but the
ball flies into the corner of the field. A corner kick! Kuznetsov clears the
ball. Streltsov makes a dash towards the England goal ... but he gets no chance
to shoot. The time is passing fast and the score does not change. It's not so
easy to break through the England defence. Krizhevsky stops a new attack by the
England team. Ivanov has the ball ... Goal! 1 : 1 Both teams try their utmost to
change the score ... but the game is soon coming to a close. One more attack ...

    and the game ends.
