Background: The withdrawal of United States helicopters from south Vietnam is throwing an added burden on Saigon government's force of gunships. The latest American pull-back included the first batch of Cobra helicopters, currently being crated in Saigon ready for shipment back to the United States.

But despite the added responsibilities, the South Vietnamese helicopter force is continuing to fly missions to support operations against the Viet Cong in the Khmer Republic. South Vietnamese ground troops, however, are being pulled back across the border. A total of 10,000 were withdrawal last week.

Film of one of the continuing helicopter operations, flown in support of a government sweep near Neak Loeang, was shot by Visnews cameraman Lee Yosep on thursday (January 13th). Coverage of the latest withdrawal of American gunships from Saigon -- where the machines are being stripped and disinfected ready for shipping -- comes from cameraman Tsi Wang.
