    MARTYR'S DAY, HELD TO COMMEMORATE ARABS KILLED IN THE 1967 SIX-DAY WAR, PASSED PEACEFULLY YESTERDAY (JUNE 6). IN EAST JERUSALEM, A GROUP OF ABOUT 40 CHILDREN LAID WREATHS ON A MONUMENT, ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THEIR FALLEN TROOPS.

    A THREATENED MASS DEMONSTRATION TO MARK "THE WRATH" OF JERUSALEMITES DID NOT EVENTUATE. INSTEAD ISRAELI SECURITY FORCES LOOKED ON AS ABOUT 40 CHILDREN, LED BY YOUNG WOMEN, CARRIED WREATHS THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE OLD CITY.

    THE GROUP SHOUTED SLOGANS SUCH AS "PALESTINE IS ARAB" AND "DO NOT MOURN FOR THE DEAD, THEY ARE HAPPY IN HEAVEN, WE WILL AVENGE THEM."
    POLICE DID NOT INTERFERE WITH THE DEMONSTRATION, BUT AN ARAB MAN WAS ARRESTED IN THE STREET NEARBY.
