  • Description

A representative of one of the Angolan liberation organisations, the Union for the Total Independence of Angola - UNITA - arrived in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, on Tuesday (11 November).
The spokesman, Fernando Wilson Santos, held a news conference in Lisbon where he told reporters that the fighting between the rival liberation groups in Angola would continue.
Mr. Santos said his organisation was committed to taking over Angola from the main rival liberation group, The Popular Movement fro the Liberation of Angola - MPLA.
Mr. Santos told the journalists that few people really understood the situation in Angola and it was for this reason that he had been appointed to travel to Portugal "and put the position in its real order".
He said that UNITA desired friendly relations with the people of Portugal because the Portuguese were the "People in the world that can best understand the Angolan situation".
