SYNOPSIS: A boost for Ivory Coast education in central region of Bouake. Technical Counsellor to the Education Ministry, Jules Hie Nea, on Friday accepted an important gift of eight buses destined to improve the availability of teachers' training courses in outlying areas.

The gift comes from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund. Their regional Director Maurice Diwouta officially handed over the buses -- and a couple of cars to be used by administrative staff of the educational department.

As he received the keys of the vehicles, worth fifteen million CFA francs, M. Hie Nea declared that the buses would further help Ivorian education to overcome economic and social disparities. The transport would make college places available to a wider cross-section of students especially those living in isolated rural areas.
