    SYNOPSIS: A combined Canadian and British naval task force steams out of Halifax harbour to begin the second phase of a series of naval exercises......the biggest ever carried out in the Atlantic since the Second World War. Taking part in the anti-submarine manoeuvres, twenty-nine warships, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates and submarines.

    During the second part of the exercise, dubbed Maple Royal Two, the fleet will be under the command of the Royal Canadian Navy's senior officer afloat. A.G. Brock.

    In addition to the warships both Canadian and British aircraft will join in the naval workout. Anti-submarine planes will fly out of the RCAF Station at Greenwood, Nova Scotia.

    The fleet had been in Halifax for four days having put in from manoeuvres off Bermuda. The first part was under the command of Admiral Sir William Davis, commander-in-chief of the British Home Fleet.
