    The Egyptian Cabinet met on Sunday (3 June) to discuss the internal political situation, and the continuing tension between the Arab states and Israel.

    Their discussion came as the Security Council prepared for its meeting on Wednesday (6 June), to discuss the Middle East situation.

    The Security Council meeting comes a day after the anniversary of the 1967 Six-Day Arab-Israel War, which Egyptian President Anwar Sadat has now described as the six-year war.

    The Egyptian Cabinet was president over by Deputy Prime Minister for Culture and Information, Dr. Abdel Kader Hatem.

    Wednesday's Security Council debate was called for by Egypt, following intense diplomatic activity on the part of the Egyptian government. Cairo is seeking support for its efforts to force Israel to withdraw from territories gained in the 1967 war.
