    Two companies of Belgium paratroops left at night July 8 by chartered civilian planes from Brussels to reinforce the 4,000 Belgian serviceman in garrison in the troubled Congr.Republic.

    The paratroops-140 of them - were the first to be flown to the Congo following the Force Publique mutiny at Thysville and anarchy in Leopoldville. More reserve sky troops were on the alert in Belgium to be flown out.

    Reports July 8 said units of the Belgian troops already in the Congo they remained there after Independence Day under the treaty of friendship signed June 30 - went into action at Kabalo, Katanga Province to protect Belgian nationals.

    According to the reports armed rebellion broke out in the copper-rich Province in the latest move to split from the Congo Republic. Meanwhile the flight of Europeans to Portuguese Angola and Uganda continued as violence and vengeance plunged the new Republic to the brink of civil war.
