    SHORTLY BEFORE HOLDING HIS FIRST CABINET MEETING, THE NEW PRIME MINISTER MR.SALAH EDDIN BITAR HELD A 20-MINUTE PRESS CONFERENCE.HE SAID: "SYRIA WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO RID HERSELF OF THE REPERCUSSIONS OF THE PAST, PARTICULARLY WITH THE FOUR LIBERATED ARAB STATES" - WHO HE ALREADY NAMED AS IRAQ, THE UAR, YEMEN, AND ALGERIA - AND THE LEBANON.
