The former Lebanese Prime Minister, Mr. Saeb Salam, said on Wednesday (1 January) that one of many factions in the country could be responsible for a recent wave of bomb, rocket and shooting incidents in Beirut, including attacks on his home.
SYNOPSIS: Mr. Salam, who was Prime Minister from September 1970 until April 1973, was the latest victim of a series of bomb attacks on the homes of prominent Moslems in Beirut. On Monday night (9 January), the fourth explosion in recent days erupted outside his home at Museitbeh. No one was injured. Other victims have included his brother, Malik who is a former cabinet member. After this incident, at a press conference to discuss the attacks, Mr. Salam was asked who he thought was responsible.
