    Between 3,000 and 4,000 members of the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament welcomed in Trafalgar Square, London, U.K., June 4, twelve United States pacifists - five of them woman - marching from San Francisco to Moscow, the Soviet capital. The Americans had flown across the Atlantic.

    The purpose of their long trek - to call upon nations to renounce the use of nuclear weapons. A spokesman of the U.S. Committee for Non-Violent Action, organisers of the march, said they also hoped to "win over the Russian man in the street".

    Later, they marched through the West End of London. By this time, they had been joined by four British ban-the-bomb marchers for the rest of the journey. Some of the Americans have already walked over 4,000 miles, and the march began in San Francisco on 1st Dec 60.
