    MORE THAN 900 CADETS TOOK PART IN THE SOVEREIGN'S PARADE AT THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY, SANDHURST, TODAY.OF THESE, 265 WERE "PASSING OUT".THE QUEEN WAS REPRESENTED BY ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET, EARL MOUNTBATTEN.

    THE PARADE IS DESIGNED TO EMPHASISE THAT THE SENIOR OFFICER CADETS ARE PARADING AT SANDHURST FOR THE LAST TIME BEFORE BEING COMMISSIONED.

    CADETS FROM OVERSEAS TERRITORIES WERE AMONG THOSE PASSING-OUT.THEY INCLUDED REPRESENTATIVES FROM AFRICA, ASIA AND MALTA.

    SYNOPSIS: IT'S SANDHURST AND CADETS THERE STEP OUT IN A CEREMONY KNOWN AS THE SOVEREIGN'S PARADE.MORE THAN 9-HUNDRED ARE TAKING PART.

    ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET, EARL MOUNTBATTEN, ATTENDED AS THE QUEEN'S REPRESENTATIVE.THE PARADE, HELD TODAY (THURSDAY), EMPHASIS THAT SENIOR OFFICER CADETS ARE MARCHING AT SANDHURST FOR THE LAST TIME BEFORE BEING COMMISSIONED.ON THIS OCCASION 265 "PASSED OUT."
    RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF THE CADETS SHARED THIS MILESTONE IN THEIR ARMY CAREERS.

    THIS WAS NO ALL-ENGLAND PARADE.IN THE SERRIED RANKS WERE THE ALERT FACES OF AFRICANS, ASIANS AND MALTESE, WHO WILL LATER RETURN TO THEIR OWN COUNTRIES.

    CADET PETER CHAMBERLAIN MARCHES TO THE DAIS TO RECEIVE THE SWORD-OF-HONOUR.IT WAS PRESENTED TO THE SENIOR OFFICER CADET CONSIDERED BY THE COMMANDANT TO BE THE BEST OF HIS TERM.

    THERE WERE OTHER AWARDS MADE AND ADVICE GIVEN IN A CEREMONY CARRIED OUT UNDER A TITLE GIVEN IT IN JULY, 1948 BY THE LATE KING GEORGE THE SIXTH.TODAY'S PARADE WAS MARKED BY POMP AND PAGEANTRY..AND NEW RESPONSIBILITY FOR 265 YOUNG MEN.
