Background: Visiting Rumanian President Nicolae Ceausescu and his host, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, led their high-level ministerial delegations in important talks yesterday (Monday). Chief topics under discussion were the Middle East crisis, means of increasing trade links and projects to be financed by a GBP41 million sterling loan given to Egypt by Rumania. The two sides decided on another session of talks before the end of President Ceausescu's visit next Thursday.
SYNOPSIS: At Cairo's Kubbeh Palace, visiting Rumanian President Nicolae Ceausescu arrived on Monday for important talks with President Anwar Sadat of Egypt. Both heads of state were leading high-level ministerial delegations at the talks. Top of the agenda -- a review of latest developments in the Middle East crisis and exploratory discussions to increase trade links between the countries. Projects to be financed by a forty-one million pound sterling Rumanian loan to Egypt were also considered. It was later announced that both sides had reached a good measure of agreement and had decided to hold another session of talks before the end of President Ceausescu's visit on Thursday.
