    The Dutch Air Force's first jet fighter planes, - Meteors - acquired ten years ago and now obsolete, were handed over to the 'breakers', Jan 22, at Woensdrecht Airfield.

    Almost as soon as the 'hand over' was completed oxy-acetylene cutters were at work, stripping the planes of scrap metal.

    The Dutch Government was paid GBP160 sterling for each aircraft. Original cost-in the region of GBP50,000 each.

    The Government had several other offers, mainly from travelling fairs, but rejected them.
