    The Kenyan National Sports Council on Wednesday (May 8) announced an end to sporting links with Britain because of the British Lions Rugby Tour of South Africa. The Council's Chairman, Mr. Isaac Lugonzo, told a news conference that any Kenyan athletes who participated in sporting events in Britain or alongside Britons would be regarded as "traitors" by the Kenyan sporting body.

    Mr. Lugonzo said Kenya was enforcing a decision made at a meeting of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa held in Tunis last month. The Council called on African national to impose a sports boycott on Britain if the Rugby tour took place.

    Mr. Lugonzo had this to say at the news conference.
